Gooday Mike. We are a group SA's who wants to tour with 7 well-equipt 4x4 vehicles to Moz from 27/06/2015 - 12/07/2015. We plan to start at Shingwedzi, Pafuri, cross Limpopo at Mapai. Travel through Banhine nat park entering at Tomazi, camping at Chai area. Then through Zinave nat park, then Rio Save game reserve up to Vilankoulos. From there down to Pomene, Inhambane, Beline to the Mazaingiri dam back in SA.

Please advise on the following:
1. Regarding safety in Moz?
2. Is it worth to visit Banhine nas park, Zinave en Rio Save game reserve.
3. If yes, what about campsites? We prefer to camp in the wild and do not need campsites with facilities and water. Tracks4Arica shows wildcamps at Banhine.
4. I notice on the maps that there is a river to cross at Chai. What is the conditions and can it be crossed during July season?
5. Will it be possible to do a wild camp at the Limpopo crossing at Mapai?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Regards
Louw du Plessis

1. Regarding safety in Moz?
MIKE: This area not affected by continuing Renamo threats. No reports of hi jacks so far but don't leave valuables out.

2. Is it worth to visit Banhine nas park, Zinave en Rio Save game reserve.
MIKE: Rio Save G R. Closed. Zinave and Banhine good for solitude and birds.

3. If yes, what about campsites? We prefer to camp in the wild and do not need campsites with facilities and water. Tracks4Arica shows wildcamps at Banhine.
MIKE: Ok to camp wild in Banhine, but not sure about Xinave.

4. I notice on the maps that there is a river to cross at Chai. What is the conditions and can it be crossed during July season?
MIKE: Yes, but with late rains could be too deep.

5. Will it be possible to do a wild camp at the Limpopo crossing at Mapai?
MIKE: Too populated near the crossing so camp 5km upstream on either side of Limpopo.

Thanks Mike
According to what you replied, it looks like its better to do 2 wild camps on our way to Vilanculos and spend more time in
Vilanculos and Inhassoro.
Thanks

I would make it 3 bush camps:
Near Mapai
In Banhine
In Zinave

Then along Save to Inhassoro.

Hi there Mike

Just to make sure, do you think we must enter Banhine and camp close to, what looks like a lake and a river flowing out of it, according to tracks 4 africa. I think there is a village called Chai close by. Or must we just past Banhine.
Thanks
Louw
