Thanks Mike!

This is very helpful! Some last questions:

1. You advise me to travel from the north to the south. Is this because of the weather (I've read the ocean in the south part of Mozambique can be a bit rough in June)? Or is public transport easier from north to south?

2. Is it possible to withdrawl money with Mastercard of do I need to take cash with me (more than $ 300)?

3. Do I need to book domestic flights in advance (because of the prices)?

Hi Ing
see my responses below your questions:

1. You advise me to travel from the north to the south. Is this because of the weather (I've read the ocean in the south part of Mozambique can be a bit rough in June)? Or is public transport easier from north to south?
MIKE: None of the above. My travel philosophy is to start with the more complicated places and then head for more predictable spots, especially when there is a return flight home at stake. So if things don't go according to plan in the north, you will still have time to adjust your plans without jeopardizing your flight back home.

2. Is it possible to withdrawl money with Mastercard of do I need to take cash with me (more than $ 300)?
MIKE: Yes at most ATM's, so long as you have a PIN loaded. VISA is the best option, but Mastercard a good second best. The $300 is just a back-up should you not find a functional ATM or the queue is too long. Some stores will change dollars for meticais at a fair rate, but ask locally for advice. Remember to inform your bank that you will be using your cards in other countries or they may be blocked.

3. Do I need to book domestic flights in advance (because of the prices)?
MIKE: Yes as they can sometimes be full. Factor in the possibility of long delays, or even in planes being replaced. LAM is not known as "Late and Maybe" for nothing.
