I understand that there is a bridge further down stream which one can access via the Masingir dam and then come back up to Gonarezhou through Mapai, do you have any thoughts/suggestions about this route, obviously it would be further but more predictable?.
Yes, if you decide not to cross at Mapai, there is the option of driving through the Parque Nacional do Limpopo to Massingir, driving towards Chokwe and crossing at the Macarretane Limpopo barrage, or at the Chokwe bridge. Problem is R140 pp and per car park fee and it is an 8 to 10 hour on often rough roads detour.
