Cuamba to Blantyre

Hello everybody,

I am planning to take the Nampula - Cuamba train next week. I want to stay one night in Cuamba, and then continue the next day to Malawi. I think Blantyre could be a good starting point for a Malawi tour, as I just can proceed to the north from there.
I have no idea what a good route is from Cuamba to Blantyre. The information I found so far on the Internet might be out of date.

Time doesn't matter, but money does (meaning I want to take public transportation).

I am very grateful for tips!

Thanks in advance

Greetings and welcome to Mozguide.

Firstly a warning: As the rains are continuing in the area, the Cuamba to Mandimba road has become very difficult for buses and trucks to negotiate and they routinely become stuck in thick mud or deep flooded sections.

On arrival at Cuamba station ask about whether the trains from Cuamba to Entre Lagos border and from there to Liwonde are running as this could be more reliable and easier than buses if the road is wet.

In Cuamba I can recommend Quinta Timbwa: 82-300 0752, 82-692 0250; This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and in Mandimba Complexo Massinga 82 300 0778.

So quite an adventure if it rains, but with time on your side you will make it through. Please let us know how it all works out.

Mike
