Welcome to Mozguide

I`m Argentinian, travelling to Africa and one of trips will be from Maputo to Dar es Salaam, I plan to it by land.
MIKE: Great trip. To enjoy Mozambique and Tanzania using public transport, I suggest 3-4 weeks for this trip.

I have been reading post and I am a little scared about the northen Mozambique.
MIKE: Less problems in northern Mozambique than the south. Lower crime and less tourists. Roads are currently mainly in very good condition. Bus and other public transport can be crowded and unreliable, but if you are will to pay you can get rides with trucks and smaller vehicles.

Should I? Whats the best way to croos the border noaways?
MIKE: Go along the coast and cross at the Namoto (Quionga), Kilambo (Mtwara) border.

I was think to it in Niassa. is it possible to carpool on the road in order to go north from maputo? Should I avaoid any place, city, or town?
MIKE: I don't think car-pooling will work, but look up DriveMoz on facebook and join as there are many very helpful people there who will give great advice. There is some crime and thieving in Mozambique cities. I would be careful with valuable everywhere, but places like Maputo, Maxixe and Nampula have got bad reputations for muggings and robbery.

Go well

Mike

Thanks a lot! I hope you can help me to plan this trip.
