Hi,
I will be traveling by bus from Maputo to Ibo/Pangane from the 16 December. We don't have any defenit plans, but can stay for 3 weeks.
Can you give me advice on:
1 Camping at Pangane or anywhere near, will it be possible to camp on the beach, or are there camp sites.
2 Any bus or transport you can suggest from Maputo to Beira, I will miss Panthera Azul's one. Would you recommend hitchiking?
Thanks,

Maputo to Beira use Oliveiras or TSL. If you are in a hurry I wouldn't go to Beira, carry on straight at Inchope up to Caia, Quelimane, Mocuba etc
At Pangane you must camp at Complexo Hashimi which is a basic but very nicely run and comfortable little stockade right near the point - beaches both sides. If you just camp on the beach the likelyhood of theft is quite high.
You can try hitchhiking - I think this could be easier than the bus but it is common for locals to charge you for a lift anyway.
Mike.

Just note that, using public transport, Maputo to Pangane is a minimum of 5 long days, perhaps up to seven. So plan for some breaks en-route perhaps in Chimoio, Gurue and Pemba.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, our trip was fantastic.
We got to Nampula from Maputo in two days, with a bus and a couple of good lifts.
From there it took us two days via Mozambique Island, what a place!!!!! , to Pangane.
At Pangane Hasimis place was full and stayed at the “ Restaurant/ Bar “ , just before the market, for a week. It consists of one simple self catering hut, Hadge the local owner helps you prepare the fish every night and can tell you lots of stories about the village and islands. This place is very special, can recommend it.
Cheers
