I just have to recommend a great new backpackers on Ilha de Mozambique. Ruby Backpackers. After a total of 6 weeks in Moz; and countless backpackers and a few hotels - this has got to be the best place ever. We stayed in one of the double rooms. If it wasn't for the shared toilets/showers it would be a first class hotel. Tastefully renovated and spotlessly clean, friendly service and a prime location this place is hard to beat. We were going to stay 2 days - and it turned into 6 days, we just didn't want to leave.

Other backpackers we stayed at:
Pink Papaya in Chimoio - cozy, friendly owners, clean, good location, dorms a little crowded if the are full (we were lucky though).
Zombie Cucumber in Vilankulo: the owners have left and unfortunatly it shows. The toilet and showers are dirty and there is little of no hot water. But it is still the best place in Vilankulos.
Inhabane Backpackers: cannot remember the name but it is near the pier. It was comfortable and acceptably clean. The food was the best part of the stay! Recommended!
Still in Moz

I'm sabrina, Zombie Cucumber's manager. I was on holidays when you came here. Sorry you found the place dirty and had problems with the hot shower... it's the first time we have this complain. Thank you for saying though... we'll try to do better!
