Visa in Pafuri and Chiqualaquala?

Hi Mozman and all,
please let me introduce myself!

I am a 52-year old german guy who loves southern Africa - and I try to be there whenenver I can.

For our next trip we plan to cross/transit Mozambique only.
We will be coming from Pafuri (2 cars, my own landrover, ZA number plates and a rental car from Bushlore), drive straight to Chiqualaquala and enter Gonarezhou around 20th october.
The way back will be the same story, but the other way: From ZIM into Chiqualaquala and then to ZA via Pafuri.

The Limpopo should be dry at that time of the year, but can we still get our visa at those border posts? Can we pay in ZAR or EUR, is it cheaper to take 2 single or one double entry?
I have heard that there might have been changes over the last monts/years. Last time we travelled MOZ was 2012, and we had no problems getting visa at Giriyondo border.

Any advice is really appreciated!
thank you,
pemakus

Hi Pemakus.
Welcome to Mozguide.
Yes visas are issued at Pafuri for $50 cash. Note that this Visto de fronteira is valid for "duas entradas" and so will be valid when re-enter at Chicualacuala. See attached copy of the regulation. Artigo 21para 4 is relevant.

The Limpopo is easily crossed until rains start in December.

A great contact in the area is www.pafurimoz.co.za

Have a great trip.
