Hi Mike, our trip from SA to Mozambique's sorted - thanks again for your help. We're now looking into returning via Kruger . I have enquired for sleepover at Mopani restcamp. The suggested route from google maps is Inhambane, Chibuto, Chokwe Kruger Is this a recommended route? Im concerned that we might not make it in time for the Kruger gate closing at 18h30. Thanks Carina

Hi

Firstly note that the Giriyondo border (and Giriyondo Kruger Gate) hours are:
October - March: 08:00 - 16:00
April - September: 08:00 - 15:00 ...

Also unless you arrive at the Limpopo Park's Massingir gate before 1400, you will have to stay in the Park for a night, and enter Kruger next day.

Two weeks ago I drove from Dunes do Dovela near Zavora, about an hour from Inhambane, to Massingir, in 7 hours of easy driving. It is 2 hrs from Massingir to Giriyondo border, so that makes a 10 hr drive Tofo (or barra) to Giriyondo.

The google route is correct.

I would aim to spend a night at Covane Lodge (just been renovated and very nice) or at Albufeira or Aguia Pesqueira in Parque Nacional do Limpopo.

Thanks again Mike ! We'll rather plan to stay over @ Limpopo Park and travel to Kruger the following day (depending on availability at Kruger). Just for your information and records, Covane is still closed for renovations and are not taking any reservations for December. I've sent accommodation enquiry to Limpopo Park - awaiting reply. Thanks for the referrals, information and advise Mike - very much appreciated

Thanks for the update about Covane.

I spent a night on one of their houseboats a month ago and while some issues still needed to be sorted out, they certainly appeared to be ready for guests and even had meals and drinks available at the restaurant.

Not sure then. The email reply from 'Leigh' stated that Covane is closed "indefinately" due to renovations. Hopefully Limpopo Park can accommodate us. Thanks Mike
