I have just returned from a trip to Morrungulo (17 June - 3rd July) and can report that all was quiet, normal and no adverse situation presented itself. Given that the Southern provinces of Mozambique are Frelimo strongholds I did not expect any trouble from any Renamo bandits. There is a 20 min roadworks delay at Komatipoort heading up to the Lebombo Border. The border crossing at Ressano Garcia was a mere 10 minute interlude - through at 17h15 on a Monday. Maputo heading North on the EN1 however was the normal chaotic traffic nightmare. So the leg from the border - Blue Anchor Inn = 3 Hours! Liz's food was worth it and the famous 2M golden throat charmer was sublime. No traffic cops or police stops making for a pleasant trip. Would you believe me if I told you that Hansie, Schalk and Shane were catching Couta off the beach in front of Cuta Bay - Morrungulo beach. Mozambique is magic!
