Is the ferry at Mapai still operational?
What is the best way to determine if it is save / viable to cross?
We are planning to enter Moz next Sunday (20th of March) from Pafuri and we would just like to know what the best options will be? We will be travellinf in 2 Defenders.

Thank you for the help

Hi and sorry for the delayed reply

There has been high rainfall in the Limpopo catchment over the past two weeks and this rain (and more to come) will already have made it to Pafuri. Your best contact in the area is Dumela Wilderness Safaris that have a nice campsite 8km from Pafuri border near the Limpopo: www.facebook.com/dumela.wilderness.safari/

Go well and let us know if you make it across.

Hi

I am heading to Pomene (with 4x4) via Pafuri at the end of June and have got a couple of questions

Is the Limpopo river at Mapai easily passable at the moment

Would one be able to find a camp site at Banhine National Park head quarters which is on the road South East of Machaila

Has anyone driven the road from Banhine National Park HQ to Massinga via Tesenane, Funhalouro and Manhisa recently. How is it?

Thank you for your help!!!

Hi and apologies for the delayed reply.

Yes the Limpopo is already very low so easily crossed. The HQ of Banhine is near Chai Village and the nearby tented camp is under renovation. I would bush camp away from the HQ.

The Tsenane - Funhalouro - Sitila - Massinga road is sandy but quite good at present.

Go well, lekker trip!

Hi Mike

Thank you for the feedback.

How populated is the area around Chai village? I really enjoy bush camping, but I don't want to infringe on other peoples privacy. Would it be acceptable to camp in this area?

Regards

Pieter

A few hundred people perhaps so I would camp about 20 km before getting to Chai.
