HI
@ Mike any new info on the water levels?
Is there a chance that your man in Mapai can give us an idea on the condition of the pont and more or less road conditions once you have crossed.

thanks

Hi Barry

Just spoke to Mapai (Mon, 10 December) and as unlikely as it may seem, Limpopo not yet flowing there. There has been some rain in the Mapai area, and no word about the pont.

BUT from decades of experience paddling rivers, I think the water is arriving at Mapai just about now. Today and tomorrow and for the next week or so (at least) heavy rain in the Limpopo basin (catchment area), so unless you will be crossing tomorrow or perhaps to Friday 14 December 2012, I would skip Mapai.

Hi all

I see that very heavy rainfall (80 - 100mm per day) is predicted for today (11 Dec, 2012), in the Limpopo basin as well as the Phalaborwa - Giriyondo region, continuing tomorrow and perhaps for the rest of the week.

So chances are getting very slim for a Limpopo crossing at Pafuri, or Mapai, and the chance that the Giriyondo - Massingir road is affected are increasing too.

Hi all

just spoke to Mapai and to the Pafuri border police.

Mapai says the Limpopo still not flowing and just a little rain in the area.

The guy I spoke to at Pafuri says he will take a look at the Limpopo and that I should contact him about lunchtime today.

So until later today (12/12/2012) no confirmation of Limpopo level at Pafuri.
