Hi Mike,

this a good news. thanks.
How long is the way from Pafuri to Mapai Guesthouse and then from Mapai to Vilankulo?

Thanks a lot for all your advices.

We will be there on 17th of August. I hope the guesthouse will be open at that time ?

Kind Regards,

Vincent

Hi Vincent

From Pafuri (Dumela Wilderness) to Mapai (railway), also called Sao Jorge do Limpopo, is about 4 hrs during the dry season (July to November). Casa Bufalo Mapai is on the lhs about 200m from the railway after crossing towards Machaila. From Mapai via Machaila and Mabote to Vilanculos is about 9hrs at average speed of 50kph, so if you depart Mapai at 0700, you should easily be in Vilanculos before sunset.

I have received today an email from the Limpopo Park. They confirmed me that the Banhine camp is open with tents available.
The email to contact them is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (Mr Abel Nhabanga).
They even sent me a brochure by email about the Bahnine camp and accomodation.

Hi Vincent.

Thanks for the update. Yes I am in contact with Banhine via a private Whatsapp number. There are six 2 bed safari style tents with bathroom en suite. Overlook the lake which is currently full.
