Hi Gents,

Thanks for both your replies. I look forward to our trip and thus all my questions. I am a person that likes to be prepared for most, at least for what I can plan for. Pemakus, I understood that the extra diesel would form part of the allowances you may take in, it looks like this differs from border post to border post. 46% tax is quite stiff. We diesel available on-route, it is almost not worth the effort to take Jerry cans with, unless the stretches between filling stations necessitate it.

@ Mike, I appreciate the info thanks. It sounds as if mid December might be a gamble with regards to the Limpopo crossing, all depends on the rainfall. My initial plan was to do Pafuri, Mapai, Banhine and then onto the coast. Now as an alternative I am looking at Giriyondo, via Massinger dam, Chibuto etc. I just feel like driving this route, I might as well use the Moamba road and then onto the EN north. My idea was to use the less travelled routes that is still safe to travel, it is part of the adventure. Why travel on tar roads if I can do the gravel roads. Yes, it is much safer and quicker via the EN route, but I see the travel as part of my holiday. So that said, any interesting route ideas if I use the Giriyondo gate on my way to Morrungulo? I dont mind camping next to the road in the bush, if it is still acceptable, but do not mind camping in established local camp sites either. The part to Massinger seems to be a given route, but then onwards there seem to be multiple options. Maybe Chibuto, Manjacaze to Panda, Homoine onto EN north? At least this route goes past some sort of Miombo forest if I my info is correct.
Who knows, we might even bump into other parties going the same way at Giriyondo...mmmm

Regards
Jaco

Hi Jaco

Yes Pafuri route is not guaranteed between December and April, but Giriyondo usually OK. Giriyondo is really much safer in terms of road accidents than Lebombo / Ressano Garcia.

And yes this is a good route: "Maybe Chibuto, Manjacaze to Panda, Homoine onto EN North."
