Hi,

I'm coming to Africa at the beginning of next year to volunteer in Malawi and hope to travel after I finish volunteering. I'd like to see a few other countries in that time and thought I'd round of my trip by going through Mozambique, or more specifically from Tanzania to Mozambique - get to Harare in Zimbabwe and then travel a wee bit south and see Maputo and then onwards to Johannesburg.

Ideally I'd like to do this in about 2 weeks or so in April.

Thanks for any help!

KD

Hi KD.
Most of the info you need is already on this site. You don't mention details such as how you will be travelling, your budget, your expectations and whether you are interested in beaches, diving or perhaps culture and wildlife. Let me know so that I can answer more effectively.

best wishes

Sorry about the lack of info.

I would have a budget of about $500 to $600 and would prefer to do more cultural and/or wildlife visits than beaches or diving (I don't have a diving certificate).

I'd prefer to just visit a few places and stay in them for a day or two before moving on. I'm backpacking so I have no private transport. And I think my budget allows for a plane journey should I really need to hurry.

Thanks.

Hi again KD

From Tanzania? Depends on which part of Tan you are coming from. I will assume Dar es Salaam where you MUST get your Moz visa and then take the bus down to Mtwara which will at least be a very long day, or 2 days if it rains. From Mtwara get down to Nwambo on any transport going that way, cross the Rovuma by boat and then take any transport going to Palm or Mocimboa da Praia. From Mocimboa you Must get to Pangane (turn off from main road at Macomia and then through Mucojo, which is a little village on a wonderful beach - stay at Hashim's or Sukee's place. Note this area is very remote. Altenatively (pity as you will miss what I think is the best part of Moz) there are now LAM flights Dar to Pemba (will save you 3 or 4 days) see www.lam.co.za After Pemba get down to Nacala: Bay diving www.fimdomundo.co.mz tell Arthur that Mike Slater sent you and then to Ilha do Moz - a must and then the long haul down to the Zambezi and up to Chimoio where you can stay at Pink Papaya backpackers (tell Helen that I sent you): Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. What I would worry about is the Zimbabwe Legg as things are really pretty volatile and difficult there (I have visited 3X this year) and as fuel is low, public transport is irregular and can be dangerous (no money = bad maintenance) so keep your ear to the ground. Any little details check out this site or ask away.

Best wishes

I would like to have a vacation in quissico somewhere in december. I will come from south africa so the visas should be a breeze. Do you know of any accomodation in that region that might still be available. Another thing, I am part of a team of investors that would like to invest in a resort in the quissico region. We don't want to stay in an upperclass hotel or anything like that, we'd like a shack on a secluded beach or something. The only thing is that it must be in the quissico lakes area, on the beach. If you feel that you might be of assistance to us contact me via my e-mail addr. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hear from you!

See Mar E Sol on the front page of mozguide.com, it is between the lakes and just on the dune side of the beach.
