Where to stay in Vilanculos?

I traveled to Vilankulos in July and stayed in chalets at both Zombie Cucumber and Baobab Beach. Neither were luxury but both were nice. Personally we thought that the owner at Zombie was quite condescending to her staff--who were great. We liked the vibe better at Baobab, and the en suite facilities, and the view, but the mosquito nets had holes. Bit of a toss up, but two good budget options.

Sorry for my late reaction.
I've been with Dolphin Dows (his name was Junior) who arranged everything. We have also met some local people, but we didn't ask any futher cause we had some good reviews on him at Fatima's....yep it's a small world in Mozambique..
I've also been to Zombie, but at that time (beginning of oktober) everything was very quite, the only thing that i didn't like in Vilankulos was the town itself. Not so friendly people and also a mugging on the beach in the early moring. But at Zombie we had a guard with a bow and arrow(!?) so everything was safe there..
But Bazaruto itself is great!

I've also heard that Dolphin Dhow are OK but make sure that all the finer details are settled such as exactly what you are paying for and how much and where you will go and what you will do etc. Otherwise you may be in for some unforeseen expenses on your return.

Terve Tintti and the rest...
I am also from Finland by the way! and went to Vilanculos in September. After staying in beach huts for weeks ( also stayed at Baobab but did not get a nice chalet there, they have a few nice ones and one less nice...) anyway so we decided to upgrade the accommodation. Stayed a few nights at Casa Rex ( that has amazing views and fantastic food!) also stayed a few nights at Vilanculos beach resort ( there you have a beach) happened to get the presidential suite there which was bigger than Baobab...
Went to the different islands also with Junior and to Bazaruto we took a speed boat.
There is a brilliant restaurant close to Marges tourist info that has great seafood!
Would go back to Mozambiqe anytime, just loved it!
