Hi Mike,
instead of camping in or around Lago Banamana on second night, would it be safer & more comfortable at Eagle Research Camp, Banhine?

Hi
I stayed at Fish Eagle camp in Banhine in October of last year (2012), and until it is renovated and the plague of flies is controlled, I would rather bush camp. So I would get to the steel bridge at Banamana and turn right and drive onto the middle of the dry lake (follow existing tracks), and camp there. No cover for ablution purposes but a good spot.

Presuming we can get fuel at Mapai, will that see us through to Vilanculos?

I would certainly NOT rely on Mapai having fuel so make sure you carry enough to get you from Punda Maria to Mapinhane on the EN.1, ie about 700km.
