hi mike, with reference to your statement below, i am going with my dad and brother to mozambique somewhere between the 16- 25th Dec..what would be our best chances of getting accommodation besides camping?
also, would you recommend tofo as a destination in itself? and will we be able to get in from maputo-tofo with a normal VW Polo?

glad it all went well. Camping can be the only option during the Easter and Christmas (Dec 10 - Jan 10) SA holiday periods when most accommodation is fully booked 6 months in advance.
And Bushlore right now seem to be the best option for 4x4 hire, outside of Moz.

Use the Polo. What company are you renting from and do they know you wish to take it to Moz? What rate did they give you?
Dec/Jan is the highest season in Moz so may be difficult to find accommodation.
For Tofo I would contact Turtle Cove and for Vilanculos I would try Smugglers as they have a backpackers option.
Route I suggest is via Swaziland entering at Nerston / Sandlane (0800 - 1800) and Goba (24hrs) into Moz. A nice overnight is Mabuda Farm near Siteki if they have space.
